Happy 106th Birthday Ida!
Ida (Martin) Ward has been a Resident of St. Joseph’s Home since 2009. She was born on December 2, 1914 in Brooklyn, New York. Ida was 4 years old when the 1918 influenza pandemic hit and she survived. It was reported that Brooklyn suffered more losses from the flu than any other borough in New York. This spring, Ida, along with a number of our Little Sisters, employees and Residents, was infected with the coronavirus and as you can see she fully recovered!
To celebrate her 106th birthday, over the intercom Mother Mary Thomas invited everyone to sing Happy Birthday and Father Sean, Sister Therese and staff were on hand near her room to sing to her. Nurse aides Nicole and Quatara presented Ida with her birthday cake – which she enjoyed with a glass of her favorite red wine. We all wish Ida many more happy and healthy birthdays!
