“Making the elderly happy – that is what counts!” – Saint Jeanne Jugan
October 23rd was a beautiful day, the sun was shining bright and even that late in the month you could go outside without a coat. It was a perfect day for a visit from Swift Farms petting zoo. There were ducklings, chicks and bunnies, all so fluffy and soft, waiting to be caressed by the gentle hands of the Residents. The two goats, who were very friendly, spent lots of time seeing who could be the master of standing on a hay bale. Last but not least, a beautiful miniature horse with a braided mane, munched on the grass as she was patted and brushed. As you can tell by these photos, the animals brought smiles to everyone’s face. Who wouldn’t be happy with a cute yellow ducking in their hands? The staff from Swift Farms were so friendly and patient, you could see how much they enjoyed interacting with the Residents and the Sisters and how much they loved their animals.
Our sincere gratitude goes out to John Feenan, who’s wonderful generosity brought the petting zoo to St. Joseph’s Home! He made the elderly VERY happy!
