On June 1, Archbishop Peter Leo Gerety celebrated the 50th anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination. Bishop Dominic Marconi said Mass and Bishop Frank Rodimer, Bishop David Arias and Bishop Charlie Mc Donnell were concelebrants. Mass was followed by a luncheon reception in the auditorium.
Archbishop came to St. Joseph’s Home 3 years ago from the Newark archdiocese’s residence for retired priests. Last September during the Holy Father’s visit, he traveled to New York City to attend Evening Prayer at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Archbishop still recalls how surprised he was when Pope Francis stopped to greet him and gave him a blessing.

The Little Sisters and Residents are blessed to have Archbishop Gerety as a member of our large family here at St. Joseph’s Home.

June 29 marks Archbishop’s 77th year of ordination and on July 19th Archbishop will celebrate his 104th birthday, making him the world’s oldest Catholic prelate. May the Lord bless him abundantly for all that he has done to serve Him for so many years.
