The Christmas luncheon boutique of the Auxiliary of the Little Sisters of the Poor, held Dec. 6 at the Indian Trails Country Club in Franklin Lakes, raised more than $12,000 for St. Joseph’s Home in Totowa. The Little Sisters operate the Home to serve elderly and poor residents of northern New Jersey.

The total represents proceeds from a live auction, sale items at the boutique, raffles for a trip to Aruba and a 50-50 prize, a baked goods table, and a silent auction.

Elaine Abbate, Auxiliary President, welcomed the guests and introduced Mother Margaret Charles, l.s.p., who became Superior of the Totowa community last May. Mildred Rolls presented Mother Margaret with a gift of $3,000, representing Christmas contributions from individual Auxiliary members and their friends.

Ms. Abbate, who reminded guests that all proceeds would go directly to the Little Sisters, thanked committee chairmen, including: boutique, Arleen DePauw and Diane Murgio; silent auction, Barbara Renaldo and Jane Costello; live auction, Terry Nyklewicz and Phyllis Pirone; tickets, Betty McCallum; baked goods, Anne Folco and Ellen Cramer; 50-50 raffle, Grace Del Guercio, and Aruba raffle, Joann Van Splinter. Carolyn Gundeck auctioned off a variety of treasures amidst a setting of Christmas decorations prepared by Auxiliary members.
