June – The Gateway To Summer
Our Residents wasted no time in getting out into the sun to enjoy the lovely June weather – not too hot, with a nice breeze. On June 3rd, everyone put on their sunscreen and hopped on the bus for the first of two planned trips to Point Pleasant Beach. On this outing, the Residents enjoyed a packed lunch followed by delicious ice cream from Jenkinson’s. There was plenty of time to walk the boardwalk, shop for souvenirs and even play a few games where some furry prizes were won. They’ll be back in July, to go on the annual paddlewheel boat ride.
A week later the whole gang was off again, this time a little closer to home, to see our own New Jersey Jackals play the Sussex County Miners at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls. The Residents enjoyed hot dogs, hamburgers and chips while they watched the game. Carl Guida reported,” the game was exciting and there was a lot of action!” Ultimately the Jackals beat the Miners 10-7. Hooray for the Home Team!
During the 7th inning stretch, someone from the Jackals organization began throwing t-shirts to the fans. Maryann Riordan was lucky enough to catch one, and it made her day! After the required stop in the gift shop, it was time to head for home.
Two wonderful trips so far, and Summer has just begun!
