On a much sadder note, four members of our extended family here at St. Joseph’s Home have passed away in recent months, and we will certainly miss them. All were among the volunteers who help us in so many ways, always willing to share their time and treasure with the Sisters, Residents and staff. The men and women who left us performed varied tasks, but were united in their belief in Saint Jeanne Jugan and in the mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor.
They were Jack Albanese, a volunteer driver who took the Sisters out to various parishes for weekend collections; Antoinette Clash, who volunteered in the Development Office assisting with mailings; Irene Di Marcantonio, who also assisted with mailings and different clerical needs in the Development Office, and Dr. Rudolph A. Favocci, a volunteer who helped with fund-raising events, served Residents at the Home, and assisted the Sisters with special projects. His wife, Peggy, continues to volunteer in the same areas.
We extend our sympathies to the volunteers’ families and will keep them all in our prayers. We are deeply grateful for their service, and know that the impact of their many kindnesses will continue to be felt at the Home. I think the following quote aptly describes the heartfelt sentiment of those we remember: “Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Others stay awhile, make footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever the same.” ~Anonymous
