It has been a tradition in our Home to hold an Advent Service to bring employees together in song, prayer and reflection as we begin the Christmas Season.
On Thursday December 1st approximately 35 employees gathered together in our Chapel and, with the participation of the Little Sisters, held a meaningful service of prayer and Christmas Hymns.
Two employees read Bible passages, as did Mother Margaret Charles, who also provided a though provoking “reflection” on bringing the true meaning of the season into our lives and hearts in little ways. Just sitting on the side of one’s bed and mentally lighting a candle, thinking about the birth of Jesus our Savior as the reason for all the Christmastime hustle and bustle, may put the heart and mind in the right place.
One employee representatives from various departments including Administration, Dietary, Nursing, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Nurse Aide and Laundry, recited a prayer illustrating their department’s wishes for the Season. It was also a time express thankfulness at what the Home was able to provide in the past year and hopes for the year ahead.
All left in good spirit, with the songs, prayers and sentiments imprinting their minds with inspiration to better able prepare the Home for the busy Christmas season, as well as doing likewise for their own homes. It is a tradition that I, for one, hope will continue – we are fortunate to be able to step back, come together and reflect.
