Saint Joseph’s Home – Advent 2011
Clear sky, full moon
Through our windows
Decorated colorfully
A majestic tree glows.
On a neighbor’s lawn
Across the street by night
Metal reindeer pose
In artificial light
Christmas trees
in the halls on all the floors
along with garlands and angels
Decorate our building indoors
In the entrance living room
Christmas carols quiet as a prayer
do not disturb the resident
napping in a comfortable chair
Alongside the fireplace
a tall, decorated tree stands
where two life-like stuffed cats
recline, heads on paw-hands
Warm smiles light up Advent days
everything we see and hear and do
promotes a gentle, peace-filled joy
Baby Jesus, as we wait for you.
