“Always Ready, Always There”
“From June 8 to July 18, my 20-Soldier mission conducted logistical, janitorial, and housekeeping support for St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly in order to combat the spread of COVID-19 within the facility and preserve the health, safety, and lives of the site’s 120 staff and 60 Residents. These 20 Soldiers from 8 different units in our great state, answering the call of duty, volunteered to come on to the St. Joseph mission after their previous long term care facility missions had concluded. Without any doubt or hesitation, I can say that these are some of the finest Guardsmen I have ever worked with in my career as an Army Officer. It was a pleasure to help St. Joseph’s for this last month, and I wish the best for all the Sisters, staff, and Residents when our mission concludes the 18th of July. While our mission is winding down, New Jersey’s efforts to combat COVID-19 have not stopped. God willing, these efforts will help preserve the health, safety, and wellbeing of our great state.” – LT Johnathon Upadhyay, Team St. Joseph, JTF 57
We are extremely grateful for the assistance of the New Jersey Army National Guardsmen who came to us at a time when we were struggling to care for our Residents and manage our Home during the height of the coronavirus outbreak. We offer our heartfelt thanks for all that they did for the Little Sisters, Residents and staff of St. Joseph’s Home. We will keep these brave and dedicated women and men in our prayers as they return to their bases and go on to fulfill other missions for the people of New Jersey and our great nation. We thank them for their service and wish them Godspeed. May St. Joseph and St. Jeanne Jugan bless and protect them!
