Sr. Cecilia Regina Lynch, Little Sister of the Poor, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, NJ on October 20, 2010. Sister made her religious profession on April 18, 1967. She served in many homes of the Little Sisters of the Poor throughout the province of Brooklyn, and had been stationed at St. Joseph’s Home in Totowa, NJ since 1997 caring for the elderly in food service and helping with the begging rounds, especially for the Sunday church collections in the diocese of Paterson and archdiocese of Newark. Known as the “rosary-making Sister,” she spent her extra hours making rosaries and propagating devotion to Our Lady through the rosary.
A wake service and prayer vigil will be held at St. Joseph’s Home, Totowa on Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m., closing with night prayer. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the home’s chapel, 140 Shepherds Lane, Totowa, NJ. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa, NJ. Sister is survived by two nephews and a niece, all from Illinois.
